NetLAB

NetLAB is designed for learning computer networks and doing research. It augments Netkit/UML emulated networks with a GUI for creating and operating network configurations. NetLAB provides an oracle that monitors, diagnoses and explains network behaviour. NetLAB is software libre, distributed under GPL.

NetLAB's GUI is named NetGUI. Its main goals are the following:

To provide a way of creating and operating network configurations
To show information generated by the NetLAB's oracle when users request explanations to monitoring and diagnosis queries about the network behaviour

A beta release of NetGUI (without the oracle) is available on the NetLAB project's site.

Below you can see a screenshot of NetGUI-v0.4 showing a simple network configuration. While pc1, pc3 and r1 network interfaces have already been configured, pc2's eth0 network interface is being assigned an IP address on its console. This is why pc2's IP address is not yet pictured on the graphic.
